    Final Call for Abstracts
Abstract submission will close on Friday 30th October. We are working hard to ensure a successful conference in spite of COVID-19. Please support us by submitting your abstracts in good time. If you cannot come to Paris in person you will be able to present your work on-line. In view of continuing uncertainty about the COVID-19 pandemic and international travel, we are making contingency plans for a partly or fully virtual meeting.
In the event of a partially virtual conference, platform presentations given in the hall will be live-streamed to virtual attendees. If a speaker is unable to attend they will be able or present from home either live or as a recording. If the conference is fully virtual, speakers will also be able either to present from home or pre-record their talks for streaming. Posters will be presented as e posters. Please be assured that you will be able to present any work that is accepted.

We have an excellent and full programme of invited speakers. All invited speakers have agreed to present their talks on-line if they are unable to come to Paris in person. The cost of virtual registration is not yet fixed, but will be much less than for attendance, as we don’t have to feed you! In view of the uncertainty regarding the format of the meeting, we are postponing the opening of registration at present. Registration is not required for abstract submission. We hope to be able to make a definite decision on the format of the conference by January at the latest. We look forward to an interesting and valuable, if different, meeting.

  • Dear friends and colleagues,

It is my great pleasure to invite you to attend the 41st Annual Congress of the European Strabismological Association to be held in Paris from 21st - 24th  April 2021. This year we are meeting jointly with our friends and colleagues from the International Strabismological Association, so this will be a special meeting with a worldwide flavour.

We have a first class scientific programme, with speakers from around the world. This will include a symposium on Strabismus Surgery in High Myopia, a symposium on Intermittent Exotropia around the World and a joint symposium with our French colleagues entitled ‘How I decide what to do and whether I have succeeded’, in which experts will each describe their approach to a particular strabismus problem. We will also have a symposium on Transposition Surgery, our usual Orthoptic Symposium and our ever-popular event, ‘A Case I have Learnt from….’. Our Round Table is on Investigation and Treatment of Paralytic Strabismus in Children and Adults. Our popular pre-meeting workshops on Orthoptic Education and  ‘What you always wanted to ask about Strabismus ....’ are now a regular part of our programme and last, but by no means least, we invite you to submit abstracts of your own work which will form a major part of the programme.

Paris is a beautiful city with historic buildings, wonderful museums for both Classic art in the Louvre and Impressionist paintings in the Musee d’Orsay and of course French cuisine. The meeting will finish at Saturday lunchtime to give you the opportunity to spend the rest of the weekend exploring the city. Transport links to Paris are excellent, with direct flights from many European and US airports as well as from Asia. The Congress will be held in the Issy les Moulineaux Conference Center, which is a modern, purpose-built in a pleasant suburb close to Mairie d'Issy Metro station which gives easy access to central Paris. There is a good range of local hotels from which to choose accommodation. The Gala Dinner will be an evening river cruise on the Seine through central Paris. Do book early because Paris is a very popular destination. I look forward to meeting you there.
